Case Study
Dispense Assist changes the way medical prescriptions can be dispensed in Australian pharmacies.
Australian pharmacies often struggle to find pharmacists and dispensary technicians prepared to work nights, weekends and public holidays. Dispense Assist is a revolutionary app platform built on cloud services that solves this problem through remote outsourcing, changing the way prescriptions can be dispensed in pharmacy. Built by Soda Digital, it’s an all-in-one system for dispensing medicines at a fraction of normal cost.
When Dispense Assist first contacted Soda Digital, they asked for custom-built software with sophisticated smarts and the same security levels used and trusted by major banking institutions.
Our development team went to work immediately, scoping a feature set for the solution with the scalability, performance and security Dispense Assist would need. To maximise shared understanding, a fixed-cost quote and Statement of Works (SoW) were provided early at the proposal stage. Our team then developed permission levels and UX and UI features designed to support suppliers overseas and customers in Australia on desktop, laptop or mobile device.
Challenges included the need to provide time-based outsourcing sessions across disparate time zones and geographic regions. Moreover, our integration specialists needed to code an API to facilitate data flow between a custom frontend build and an advanced ticketing and remote access system configured with advanced security capabilities. Now developed, this remote software employs the same security levels used and trusted by major banking institutions with TLS 1.2 transport security with AES 256-bit encryption.
In the build, we implemented a functionality set including bookings, scheduling, notifications, role-based permissions, authentication systems, rostering, session management and cancellations, and account management. The solution also included multiple payment scenarios, free trials, reporting dashboards and integration with invoicing processes via the Xero platform.
The outcome is a commercially stable and user-centric outsourcing platform that’s disrupting the traditional dispensing business model. Australian pharmacies can easily fill staffing gaps and dispense prescriptions at a fraction of the normal cost.
